Frequently Asked Questions and Studio Policies
What kind of yoga is this?
There is a variety of classes from more strong and energetic to restful and relaxing. Most are breath flow-based, but there's a lot to choose from so check the class descriptions. Each instructor teaches to the class’s needs, their own strengths, the time of day, and they create their own playlists. We encourage every practitioner to take the level of depth that is supportive to their breath and comfort and welcome all levels of experience in every class. Come try something new! It's only an hour.
But I’ve never done yoga.
I’m not flexible. I can’t touch my toes.
No problem! All you need to be able to do is breathe and bend your knees and you can do yoga. This is about building a healthy practice that centers you!
All yoga uses the same basic playbook of poses, so the more you do it, the more familiar you’ll be with what comes next and the more you can focus on what feels good to you. The studio doesn’t have mirrors, so you won’t be distracted by watching yourself. Instructions are given in English and there’s lots of demonstration. And at the end of the day, if you happen to move left when everyone else moves right… it’s really no big deal. If you fall out of warrior three, no stress. Your foot is there to catch you. You got this!
Do it because it feels good. Come back because it’s fun!
How should I arrive to class?
Wear clothes that are comfortable to move in.
Arrive at least five minutes before class time so you can get situated. Classes start and end on time, so if you’re one or two minutes late you’ll encounter our Locked Door Policy.
Bring a water bottle and a yoga mat. We also have a limited supply of B Mats for rent.
Leave your shoes and cell phone outside the yoga room. The space will be locked while in practice. Please silence your phone before you put it away. If you wear a smart watch, please ignore it/turn it off while in the yoga room.
Listen to your body and have a good time! This is supposed to be fun.
Do you have a beginner’s yoga class?
Nope, because we truly mean it when we say that all levels are welcome in all classes. If you’d like to start slow, any class with “Stretch” or “Restore” in the title is a good choice. Classes with the word “Power” or “Flow” in the title move a bit faster.
Will I be too sweaty to go back to work after class?
Probably not but we do have complimentary toiletries in case you need to freshen up: dry shampoo, body spray, face mist, etc.
We also have a shower available; ask at the desk for more details.
Do instructors offer hands-on assistance during class?
Mostly we do not offer hands on assistance throughout classes. We respect that each individual coming to class is fully capable of taking good care of themselves and touching can push into a place of discomfort. However, if you would like assistance or support, speak up or mention it to your instructor and we will do our best to accommodate you!
I want to work at Bend Yoga!
And we want to meet you! Send an email to work@bendyoga.studio
If you’re an instructor, tell us about what you like to teach and how long you’ve been teaching.
If you’re the outgoing, smile-y type who talks to your seatmate on an airplane, you’d be perfect for our desk team.
Do you offer refunds?
The short answer: no.
The long answer: we believe this is a business that is based on mutually respecting each others’ time as valuable. Late cancels and no shows affect us, and at the end of the day this is a small locally owned business that provides a great service to the community! Of course, we also understand life happens, so if you need assistance please email us at hello@bendyoga.studio
What happens if I don’t make it to class or cancel late?
Check out the late cancel and no show policy page. Coming late to class is disruptive to everyone and so we have a strict policy that we start on time and end on time. This may result in lost passes so please be mindful! We would rather you be in class with us instead.
