Hey there!

I’m Caitlin, owner of Bend Yoga.

My favorite yoga poses are half moon and legs-up-the-wall. I’m usually having conversations in my head during savasana.

When I’m not doing those things, I spend time with my family. My husband Tim and I met in high school in Gulf Breeze, Florida, where I’m from. We have a kiddo named Jack and a Golden Retriever puppy named Maisy. I’m close with my sister and my dad, and my heart is always with my mom, Norma.

I live near Leeper Park, so I often walk or bike downtown. If you see me wearing headphones they’re pumping NPR straight to my soul, but I listen to classical music while I drive and Motown when I need a pick-me-up. Taking the train to Chicago to see the Joffrey Ballet is a special treat, and I’m game to travel anywhere, especially in Central America. I drink strong tea in the mornings and I get tired of wearing yoga pants all the time. I have a knack for finding great gifts, and I love color in all forms. I will gladly suggest a gift for your partner or a color for your living room.

Owning a yoga studio is new for me; my background is in musical theatre and fundraising. I auditioned my way into Emerson College’s musical theatre program; half-way through I realized I didn’t want to spend my life as a starving artist on the stage, so I started learning about marketing, management and nonprofits. I’ve worked for some really great nonprofits including Goodwill Industries, the American Cancer Society, and Harvard School of Public Health. I earned a Masters degree in Communications from Northeastern University and—for fun—a Certificate in Makeup Artistry from Emerson. Last on my resume, I was the Director of Development for the University of Georgia’s Performing Arts Center. In addition to Boston and Athens, Georgia, I’ve lived in Peoria, Illinois and Monterrey, Mexico.

My musical theatre training is how I was first introduced to yoga. During high school I attended summer intensives at Carnegie Mellon and Boston University. I spent a lot of time rolling on the floor and learning to breathe, and attended a required yoga class. I thought it was ridiculous— the teacher focused on “wind-releasing” (aka farting) postures and everyone pretended to fall asleep in savasana. Yet somehow I always found myself coming back to yoga… I’d do sun salutations outside my tent while backpacking in Rocky Mountain National Park, and practicing in Mexico even taught me to count backwards in Spanish. My yoga teacher training is in power yoga in the style of Baron Baptiste. That’s the only famous yoga teacher name I know, but I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years so I think that gets me bonus points. I’ve always wanted to own my own business, and now that I’ve started I may be a serial entrepreneur. I have ideas and business names for a kids boutique and a premium ice-cream truck.
